VP of Engineering

Overview

We’re looking for a technical leader that has been through the stage of growth we’re about to head down (the one towards $10m ARR over the next few years). Like the VP Sales and VP of Marketing that we hired in the last two years, we’d love to bring someone in who wants to roll up their sleeves and build the next generation application security platform.   This individual will play a crucial role in shaping our technology strategy, building a high-performing engineering and operations team, timely and efficient development, and driving all aspects of technology to achieve our business objectives.  This role will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning – Align our technology roadmap with the goals of the business. Collaborate with leaders from Marketing, Sales, Operations, Customer Success and Finance to develop a roadmap of key initiatives and execute them. Identify dependencies and remove blockers.

  • Technical Expertise – Evolve our platform architecture, creating differentiated services that are seamlessly integrated with both in-house and third-party solutions.  Deliver on a roadmap that balances feature development with stability, scalability and performance. Instill a culture of engineering efficiency through the use of common design patterns and industry best practices.

  • Product Delivery – Ensure our engineering practices are optimized and appropriately mature for our scale, including core software development, CI/CD, DevSecOps, QA, etc.  Strike the right balance between process and flexibility.   Leverage automation and emerging technologies like AI/ML wherever possible

  • Operational Excellence – Build out our DevSecOps competency for efficiency, reliability, scale, and security. Oversee IT to maintain a secure, auditable, and controllable environment. Own cloud operations and infrastructure budget. 

  • Team Management – Hire, lead, and mentor a distributed team of individual contributors and managers.  Strive for technical and operational excellence and use KPIs to measure the quality and efficiency of your teams

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in building highly scalable cyber security software products and platforms (Application Security experience a plus)

  • 3+ years managing and leading engineering teams (15+, distributed)

  • You are a builder (but know when to source an existing solution) 

  • You are comfortable working with ambiguity.

  • Proven experience with modern technologies, architectures, and user experiences

  • You are comfortable with managing the timing and delivery of Roadmap features and enhancements.

  • Experience in cloud development, deployment, monitoring, securing, and scaling.

  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and have implemented from scratch

  • Experience in a fast paced startup environment.

  • Experience in startups and scaled/mature businesses alike - know what it takes to build lightweight process to balance control and agility

  • Have an architectural understanding of Java.

  • Based in the US or EU within the time zones of Central US and Central European time
